CLASS OFFERINGS

I offer first aid, CPR and AED courses from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, and ASHI Medic First Aid. The most common course is the American Heart Association’s Heartsaver Adult/Child/Infant First A|d/CPR/AED. You may, however, choose to take all or part of this
course depending on your needs. Detailed course information is listed
below.

Definitions used in the course description are:

AHA American Heart Association
CPR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
AED Automated External Defibrillator
ASHI American Safety and Health Institute (meets AHA guidelines, but is not paft of the  AHA)

Basic Adult, Child and Infant CPR

This course trains you to provide CPR and use an automated
external defibrillator (AED) device in a safe, timely, effective
manner. The course is designed for someone with little or no
medical training. This course meets OSHA’s regulatory requirements.
It is an excellent course for anyone who wants to be prepared for an
emergency in any setting. The class also includes choking for adults,
children, and infants. Anyone interested in knowing CPR, or who are
required to know CPR that are not in a healthcare job. This includes parents, foster parents, construction workers, and teachers. This course is often combined with the Basic First Aid course. The student handbook is not included in the course price.

Basic First Aid

This basic first aid course provides you with the needed skills to assess
injuries and care for people in the first critical minutes immediately
following an emergency until emergency medical personnel arrive.
Often people combine this course with adult, child, and infant CpR. The
student handbook is not included in the course price.

Heartsaver Pediatric Flrst Aid, CPR, and AED use

This American Heart Association course trains you how to respond to and manage
illnesses in the first minutes until professional help arrives. This course is designed for
anyone involved in childcare who has a duty to respond in the first minutes until
professional help arrives. This course is for childcare workers, teachers, camp
counselors, parents, etc. The student handbook is not included in the course price.

Heartsaver Adult CPR and AED

This American Heart Association course trains you to perform CPR and use an AED on
an adult. It does not teach first aid. Child and infant modules are optional. The student
handbook is not included in the course price.

Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens

This course is designed for anyone who has a reasonable chance of coming into contact
with bloodborne pathogens (blood), These persons would include Correctional Officers,
Childcare workers, Security guards, Maintenance workers, School personnel, Hotel
housekeepers, Health and fitness club staff, and tattoo artists. This is an optional
course that can be added to any ofthe courses listed above. The student handbook is
not included in the course price.

HSI lvledic First Aid

Health and Safety Institute’s Medic First Aid follows the AHA guidelines for Adult First
Aid, CPR, and AED use. Like AHA, it is nationally recognized and meets federal and
state regulations for workplace responders.

BLS For Healthcare Providers

The American Heaft Association BLS for Healthcare Providers teaches CPR skills for
helping people of all ages (including doing ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask
device and using oxygen), using an automated external defibrillator (AED) and relief of
foreign-body airway obstruction.

This class is intended for participants who provide health care for patients in a variety
of settings. This class is designed for people who need a higher level of training such as
physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency room technicians, respiratory therapists,
physical therapists, nursing students, and police officers.
